Guitar Brisbane presents; internationally acclaimed and award winning German-Australian guitarist, Jesse Flowers.
Born in Sydney in 1994 to an Australian-Chinese father and a German mother, Jesse Flowers is developing a reputation as an exciting talent amongst the next generation of classical guitarists. Jesse has been awarded and recognised in Australia, Germany and London as a leading guitarist and musician, most recently as recipient of Third Prize in the prestigious 2017 Koblenz International Guitar Competition and Salzburg International Guitar Competition. He has been awarded the scholarship of the Darmstädter Musikpreis and the Guy Parsons Award of the Australian Music Foundation, both awards open to all instruments. He was also awarded first prize in the Prinzessin Margaret von Hessen Wettbewerb and Nürtingen International Guitar Competition. After his success at the Deutsche Musikwettbewerb in March 2016, Jesse was awarded a place in the prestigious Bundesauswahl Konzerte für Jünger Künstler’s 2017/18 concert season, and will perform in over 20 German cities.
Jesse has completed a Künstlerische Aufbaustudium at the Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt under the guidance of Tilman Hoppstock in May 2017. Jesse completed his Bachelor of Music degree at the Australian National University in 2014 under Minh Le Hoang and Timothy Kain. The internationally renowned composer Phillip Houghton remains an important mentor for Jesse's artistic development.
