Guitar Brisbane is a project of Magda Productions - a dynamic, indie, Brisbane based arts and cultural group.

Magda Productions started in 2012 and grew from a loose friendship of people for whom respect for culture, thoughtfulness and social justice are inextricably intertwined.

The significance of culture comes into sharp focus when you acknowledge that we exist in a land that has been home to people who have lived and thrived within the land’s replaceable bounty through countless centuries, spanning untold generations; through ice ages, with sea levels encroaching and receding; volcanic eruptions, fires, floods, and droughts - and, in the past 250 years, surviving a merciless colonial-settler project.  That is the strength of culture!

Culture may be the defining characteristic of us as people – our weft and warp. It is a priceless gift that can carry us through the turbulent waters - that is called “tomorrow”!

The weft and the warp of Magda Productions has been music (of many genres spanning local artists to international troubadours); theatre, drama and dance; philosophy, cultural discussions and meditation workshops; fundraisers for important social justice projects; art and photographic exhibitions …. the list goes on – OH! And the Memorial Service for one glorious, local woman who had worked tirelessly - since the mid 1950’s - building Community and Connection through her life’s work here, when this premises was an active church. 

How does “Guitar Brisbane” fit into this? 

For pragmatic reasons, we are temporarily leaving the Magda Productions website in limbo.                                              So please jump on board as we re-emerge from where we left off at the beginning of the COVID lockdowns!
