Shanasheel perform an evocative and inspiring repertoire from Iraq, Egypt, Syria and other regions of the Middle East, featuring traditional instruments: oud, ney, qanun, riq, joze, darbuka, combined with accordion, violin and double bass.

East of West trio plays original music that draws from the rich musical influences of the Balkans and the Mediterranean. With experience in jazz and Middle Eastern classical music forms, the band’s focus is on intricate melodies, telling new stories over rich traditional rhythms, allowing space for open solos and improvisation. Oud, double bass and percussion blend to create a sound that will seem both exotic, new yet familiar.
