All the funds raised from the ticket sales will be donated to the Oasis Charity and the 'Support for Iranian Survivors' (SUFIS) campaign. This campaign began in late 2017 following the magnitude 7.3 earthquake in Kermanshah, Iran. Previously the people behind SUFIS coordinated a similar campaign during the aftermath of 2012 East Azerbaijan earthquake. The organisation is raising funds for building a school in one of the disaster-hit areas in Kermanshah.
A basic entry fee of $20 at the door is set low to encourage more donations. You can generously choose to donate more when purchasing your ticket or at the door. No-one is too young or tool old to enjoy events at Magda's.
The Saba Ensemble was formed in 2017 to provide a rehearsal and performance space in which theoretical, practical and historical interests in Persian music could be explored, and performers from across the community could share their expertise and learn from one another. One of the main missions of the Saba Ensemble is to provide performance opportunities for Persian women musicians and singers, who are currently barred from performing in Iran..
The musicians in the ensemble come from Iran, Australia, Afghanistan and Scotland. Members have performed in a number of other music groups including Safar and Waziz. Their combined talents and their love of Persian music will combine to create a powerful and emotional concert.
