Winners of the 2017 JUNO award for Instrumental Album of Year (Canada), The Fretless is a new approach to folk music. They may look like a string quartet, but with their unique balance of fiddle, viola, cello, rhythm and melody, they shatter all expectations. The fiddle tradition runs deep and their roots are based in Celtic and Canadian fiddle styles. Taking traditional music to a new level, The Fretless transform fiddle tunes and folk melodies into intricate, beautiful, high-energy and innovative arrangements. Formed in 2011, they've performed their unique brand of Celtic fusion all over Canada and throughout the United States, the UK and Europe. Everywhere they go, they create the kind of impact musicians crave, but rarely experience - largely through respect for their innovative approach and always as a result of supercharged performances. Special guest: Monique Clare. Monique helped kick us into 2018 with her scintillating performance with Darol Anger and the Republic of Strings. Monique Clare is a musician of depth, talent and vivacity - and not to be missed.
