Magda's is delighted to support the first Folk at the Bloodhound concert featuring the Celtic sounds of The Barleyshakes, the smooth silky voices of Fly Little Sparrow and the crazy Italian folk, Zumpa. They will be celebrating in musical style the end of spring and start of summer!
Brewed in Ireland and distilled in Australia The Barleyshakes are a Celtic band with worldly influences who combine intense energy, beautiful harmony and driving dance rhythms in their live performances. They are loved for their blend of traditional and original material, and their uplifting and joyous approach to live performance. The Shakes skillfully blend their “bent” Irish sound with country rock and many other styles in their fast paced songs and instrumentals. Using fiddles, banjo, flutes, bass, drums, guitar, mandolin, and vocals, the Shakes are a collaboration of Irish and Australian performers.
Lisa Lazuli and Lizzie Flynn come together as Fly Little Sparrow to sing harmonies that emulate riding on the wings of a strong-willed bird.
Heading on a flight path of beautiful harmonic arrangements, their eclectic repertoire and commentary will take you on a journey from fragility to hope.
Fly Little Sparrow debuted at the 2019 Illawarra Folk Festival, with a five piece line up which included double bass, violin, and drums.
