Magda aficionados will remember Francis' last performance here mid last year - and we're delighted to be able to host this immensely talented, delightfully eclectic and inspiring performer back with his great friends Ravikesh Singh and Efiq Zulfiqar - in their latest incarnation: "Indozi".

The musicians:

* Efiq Zulfiqar is a superb musician, composer, performer, visual artist and graphic designer from Bandung, Indonesia. He has performed with well-known Indonesian contemporary fusion bands like Krakatau, Jugala All Stars and Sambasunda for many years. Efiq has highly acclaimed performances throughout Indonesia, the UK, Europe, Taiwan, Malaysia, Australia and NZ. His interest in music began at an early age and he studied traditional Sundanese, Balinese and western music in Bandung, West Java and Bali. His talent and love of his native Sundanese culture is evident in his compositions. He is also renowned as a performer of rock, blues and fusion music. Now resident in Australia, he has performed at innumerable concerts, festivals, schools, Australia Day Celebrations, etc. We’re delighted to have lured him Ravi and Francis to Magda’s - in their latest incarnation: “Indozi”!

* Francis is a multi-talented artist performing in a variety of genres, from ambient shakuhachi compositions to didjeridu combinations with other unusual Asian wind instruments, playing instruments from Japan, Laos, India, Indonesia, Thailand, North America, the Phillipines and Australia. He has received an Indonesian government scholarship to study traditional music in Java, studied shakuhachi with a Japanese shakuhachi master, and spent time with the Yolngu people of Arnhem land in learning the correct traditional techniques for the Yidaki (Didjeridu).His extensive experience with Asian Contemporary and Traditional performing Arts has contributed extensively to many Aesthetic and Community projects in Queensland and interstate for the past 20 years. He has performed at and participated in an immense number of festivals, concerts and collaborative musical and artistic endeavours.

* Ravikesh is a young and upcoming tabla virtuoso. He has been learning since the age of 8, recently returning from study in Varanasi, India. He has been heavily involved in professional level performances for both within the Indian Community and the general Australian public and at multicultural events across Australia. He is in high demand as a professional tabla player and rhythm collaborator on many projects in the world music scene in Queensland, and teaches tabla to pupils of all ages and ability.
