Magda Productions is so pleased to bring back the combined talents of Brisbane's Amadeus Orchestra, (now under the baton of Andrew Mear), Bardon Strings and the Chantefique Choir.
This wonderful combination of musicians and choristers began at a Magda concert in 2017 ("A lot of Music - A Little Mozart"), repeated again in 2018 ("One World of Music"), and 2019 will see this marvelous tradition continuing:
"Fire and Romance." Tickets.
This year's guest soloist is Brisbane baritone: Troy Castle.
Diarize the date: 3pm Sunday 3rd November, the Function Room, Chelmer Magpies AFL Club, 41 Chelmer St East. Chelmer.
Troy’s musical career, to date, has been varied with performances across NSW, Qld, the ACT and overseas. He has performed as a soloist at “Opera with the Cows” in Cowper, NSW; he was a featured associate artist with the Australian Men’s Rugby Choir in Canberra, ACT; and has toured Xi’an, China with the UQ School of Music performing with the Xi’an Symphony Orchestra.
This concert will have around 96 musicians and choristers performing - sunday afternoon music doesn't get any better! Diarize the date: Sunday 3rd November. Tickets.
BARDON STRINGS: For those who don't know the history of Magda's and Bardon Strings, B/Strings is an adult beginners orchestral group, directed by Anne Keenan. They came to Magda's in mid 2016, numbering around 8 - 10 for their Wednesday evening rehearsal. By mid 2018, they numbered around 27 - 30 at weekly rehearsal, with members traveling from as far away as the Gold and Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Mt Tambourine, etc. Magda's is delighted to have been such an integral part of this wonderful achievement: people and community brought together by a love of making music - building community and creating themselves as they create music. Among other partnerships: B/Strings and Magda's conducted a fund raiser for the Demazong English Academy, Sikkim, raising around $5,000 for this school. Set at the foot of Kangchenjunga, this school plays a critical and life changing role for the kids of that community.
CHANTEFIQUE are the Alliance Française choristers, and Brisbane's only French-singing choir comprising approximately 30 people - of all ages and varying abilities in speaking French. A friendly and diverse group, united by a love of music and an affection for French culture.
Chantefique sing at various events such as French Film Festival, La Fete de la Musique, Bastille Day celebrations, the Beaujolais arrival and of course Christmas festivities. Their current repertoire embraces a diverse range of French classical ballads through to modern favourites.
* Hop along to the Club for lunch from 12'ish for a fine meal and drinks. Then head to the Function Room at the Chelmer Magpies AFL for a joyous Sunday afternoon of music!
