Explore the turmoil and triumphs of battle in mid-nineteenth century France with Napoléon Coste’s dramatic fantasy, then delve into the world of baroque keyboard music with J.S. Bach’s first Clavier Partita. Be immersed in the atmospheric character of Japanese Impressionism, juxtaposed with bursts of rhythmic energy from Cuban composer Leo Brouwer. Finally, experience Antonio José’s fiery four-movement sonata for guitar, featured on Hamish’s critically acclaimed debut album, Impressions of Spain.
About Hamish Strathdee
Hamish Strathdee’s playing has been described as being of “the highest standard” (Soundboard Magazine) and with a “gloriously warm and rich” sound (Classical Guitar Magazine). His debut recording, Impressions of Spain, was released to critical acclaim, hailed as "an excellent debut” and "a thoroughly engaging album" (Classical Guitar Magazine).
Hamish holds a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours from the Australian National University. During his studies Hamish was fortunate to be mentored by pedagogues and performers, Minh Le Hoang and Timothy Kain. Hamish has received support from the PPCA Performers’ Trust Foundation and, was recently awarded, the prestigious Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) Stipendium for musicians. Hamish is currently pursuing post-graduate studies at the Akademie für Tonkunst, in Darmstadt Germany, under the tutelage of guitarist, musicologist and composer, Dr. Tilman Hoppstock.
